@lindasgoluppiart has reminded me that I noticed on New Year's Eve that Stagecoach has started electrificating its local bus fleet.

The ones that I catch connecting the little villages to the nearby towns had been relentlessly diesel. My ride on New Year's Eve was the first electric one that I have seen.

National Express's local fleet, which I catch for some journeys to the nearby big city, has been electric for some years.

#Stagecoach (1939) Official Trailer - John Wayne, John Ford Western Movie HD

@msichicago That day's stage ride will always live in my memory – but not for its beauty spots. Jammed like sardines on the hard seats of an old time leather spring coach – a Concord – leaving Pantano, creeping much of the way, letting the horses walk, through miles of alkali dust that the wheels rolled up in thick clouds of which we received the full benefit ... It is always a mystery to the

A (also: stage coach, stage, road coach, diligence[1]) is a four-wheeled public transport coach used to carry paying passengers and light packages on journeys long enough to need a change of horses. It is strongly sprung and generally drawn by four horses although some versions are drawn by six horses.

KCC spends £475,911 on subsidised buses in Thanet

I was curious how much money is spent subsidising bus routes so I asked KCC. This is what I learned.

Stagecoach enjoys £356,927.78 of KCC money for two routes with the remaining money going to Regent Coaches.

The 3 bus routes in Thanet subsidised by KCC are:

  • 48/48a – Ramsgate to Birchington
  • 36 – Herne Bay to Margate
  • 35/37 – Westgate-on-Sea to Margate

I honestly expected to find a lot more routes being subsidised. I was not surprised, however, to learn that Stage Coach picked up a little over £2m in total (£2,008,920.94) in total subsidies in Kent. All that is peanuts to the total cost of subsidised buses in Kent as a whole which has a net cost of just shy of £7m (£6,862,775.09).

Public transport is, it seems, big business.

New Peertube video!

It feels a little vloggy, but its fun to share.. and I DO edit a little... but just a little.

You can see some clips of Stagecoach State Park (in Colorado) and even a clip on some land aways from there. Oh and a clip of my latest cowboy Fashion item that I intend to wear every day :) Oh and a clip of hydroelectric power :)

Oh and I added some making things- the blinker PCB backpack- which I ordered some PCBs for and parts (I edited the primary WAGOs so they would be big enough to shove wires and plug into). Oh and a pattern of an art thing I wanna make in neon related to the style of the channel.

Nature and hiking things will be slowing down soon as we fly back to NYC tomorrow.

Unusual event!
Bus this morning was 6min early!

The bus driver saw this as a success. I am glad to arrive early, but what about everyone else who might not make it in time to the bus stop?

Also a good example where I suspect averages do not work:
Customers don't find it useful if buses are punctual "on average" 😂
