For #musiciansday, I will give a short overview of my musical carreer.
I started playing #cello as a child, played classical music in an orchestra.
Went on to playing Trad. #IrishFolk in my twenties, especially #TinWhistle which I still play from time to time.
Around that time, I also started playing the #bagpipe, mainly the Great German Bagpipe or #Marktsack as we call it.

Ça faisait longtemps que je voulais m'y mettre : je sculpte une embouchure de flûte qui pourra s'emboîter sur du tube métallique de diamètre 16 mm pour faire un #tinWhistle
J'utilise du cerisier à grappe parce que c'est ce que j'ai de sec sous la main mais, après ce prototype, j'en ferai de meilleures bois plus fins : lilas, poirier ou myrobolan (ce que j'ai trouvé de plus adapté ici, en Estonie).

Penny whistle players, a question: every chart and forum thread says there are only two octaves available, and yet I can play almost a whole octave above that (more, probably, with hearing protection).
Is this some kind of in-joke? "The first rule of third octave club: we don't talk about the third octave..."

Site de Tiennet SimonninTiennet SimonninTiennet Simonnin fait ses débuts à l'accordéon chromatique en 1988. A l'adolescence, il se passionne pour la musique irlandaise et débute l'apprentissage du répertoire et du style irlandais, d'abord au tin whistle, puis plus tard à l'accordéon chromatique, du uilleann pipes et du bouzouki. Au début des années 2000, il joue beaucoup en session et en concert avec les groupes de musique irlandaise Shelta et Bouncing Feet. A partir de 2007, il travaille davantage sur les musiques traditionnelles françaises, en particulier la musique d'Auvergne. Il fait la rencontre de Michel Esbelin, avec qui il crée un duo cabrette / accordéon. Tiennet commence également à jouer en bal folk : c'est la naissance du duo TTC (avec Thomas Restoin) en 2009, puis de Mister Klof (avec Julien Cartonnet, Sylvain Quéré et Sylvain Vuidart) en 2010. Par la suite, Tiennet s'intéresse de plus en plus aux origines du musette parisien. En 2014, avec Solen Imbeaud et Camille Raibaud, il participe à la création d'un spectacle jeune public, Les Enfants du Bal, qui donne naissance à un album sous forme de conte musical, récompensé par un "coup de cœur" de l'Académie Charles Cros. Tiennet fait par ailleurs la connaissance de la chanteuse Sophie Gamblin ; avec Antoine Leclercq au banjo, c'est le début d'un nouveau projet musical, Les Papillons de Nuit, qui redonne vie au répertoire musette de l'entre-deux-guerres à Paris. En 2020 Tiennet fonde Traucanèu avec Anne-Lise Foy et Camille Raibaud, trio qui met à l'honneur le répertoire traditionnel à danser d'Auvergne, et Balam, quartet d'accordéons chromatiques avec Julien Padovani, Hervé Capel et Thomas Restoin, qui propose en concert un répertoire de compositions inspirées des musiques traditionnelles. La même année, son premier album solo voit le jour pour la collection "Un artiste, un instrument" produite par Dominique Bommel. Parallèlement à son activité de musicien, Tiennet donne des cours d'accordéon, de whistle et d'uilleann pipes. Il est également sollicité pour animer des stages et des master-classes.

Whistle practice time. Stood in my kitchen for ten minutes playing simple jigs, a little blues, The Irish Rover, and I Vow To Thee My Country – all the while watched with great interest by a Robin in the hawthorn hedge. I wonder what he made of it all.

My #Irishwhistle #tinwhistle collection is gradually growing! I now have a high D, Bb, C and recently added a low D (struggling with the finger stretch on this last one at the moment but I'll keep at it!)
Meanwhile, my birthday is tomorrow, so I've treated myself to a low G whistle, arriving in a few days. I am told it is a good stepping stone to the low D and, as the stretch is easier, I should be able enjoy the low tone I am after while I keep attempting the low D! 
I've really enjoyed trying to teach myself to play the #tinwhistle and #harmonica over the past few months. I've so much to learn still, but at least people recognise what I am playing now and the cat doesn't bolt from the room anymore, which is always a good sign! 
Today, I started a brand-new YouTube channel, "The Fipple Flutist"! ^_^ Here is some #collageart for the very first video, "Santa Maria, strela do dia" on the ocarina.
Irish tin whistle arrived in the mail. Time to learn me up some fighting songs!
