#HobbyStreak day 666: finishing up my first unit of HH era Death Guard in prep for gloss varnish and streaking grime. Made the mistake of having one bare head, so now I'm painting eyes. It's finicky work. Gotta go to work, will finish up later.

#HobbyStreak day 666: Painted up a Death Guard.
Pro tip: let the primer set for 24 hrs or so before basecoat and streaking grime. I like the result, but the scratches visible in the third photo went down to the plastic.

Recipe: thin layers of a creamy off white airbrushed over white primer, followed by green, black, and dark bronze details. Slather in AK Streaking Grime, remove grime with white spirits and a brush or whatever.

And the squad leader is done! Someone is overcompensating…

The squad leader for the Salamander Adherents. He stands out from his peers by virtue of having a fancy topknot (red) and carrying a fuckhuge hammer. He still holds - somehow - a red combiflamer. Dude must be ripped under that black armor. The hammer is “molten” .

Pro tip: use Army Painter primer, and ffs wear a mask. Mine is fuck knows where, so I had to use my keffiyeh. Very warm!

A Salamander space marine Adherent for Warhammer 30k. His combiflamer has a chain bayonet and is red. His armor is black. His helmet is shaped like a dragon and is green, as is his right pauldron. His left pauldron is a dark gold. He is aiming his gun.

A Salamanders Adherent for Warhammer 30k. The angle of the model is slightly positioned closer to the front as compared to the previous shot. Otherwise it is similar; the major difference is you can just see a hint of flames free handed on the right pauldron.

I started building my Death Guard #HorusHeresy army tonight. Nothing fancy, just a couple of Tartaros terminators, and a Legion Praetor with combi-melta and chainfist.
I already started an Iron Warriors army last year, but I'm gonna just hold on to that for a while. Might make a smaller force just for funsies, since I already have IW bits and bodies, etc.

Last set of Adherent pics number 4 of 7.

I had decided to try my hand at brush volumetric highlights on the black armor. On the plus side: I have 100% discovered my limit as a mini painter.

Each set of armor is probably a good 3 hours, and the result does not show that time investment.

I think they look okay in person, but this is one hell of a hard technique to pull off. (Glare alone when painting makes it horribly hard)
