Reddit won’t interfere with users revolting against X with subreddit bans
Hundreds of Reddit communities are currently considering disallowing X.

@arstechnica but they WILL keep nuking links to Lemmy
@breakfastmtn Now that sucks.
@breakfastmtn @arstechnica Yup, two-faced as always. This is why we need protocols, not platforms!
@arstechnica I have a feeling the only reason they're not interfering it is because it'd be like aiming a RPG at their own feet if they did, they're already censoring any Lemmy links, goes to show how anxious they are
@arstechnica Of course not. Fewer people on X means more people on Reddit -- and more money for those who run the platform. Reddit only interferes when users are revolting against their own platform.
Like Reddit isnt a cesspool.....
@ClintonAnderson @arstechnica Definitely can be. I just have my front page to show me pictures of stuff that makes me happy. Bikes, camping, coffee, fancy old school shaving supplies, etc. The front page can be a bit of a mess, agreed.
@arstechnica Ideally, people should replace #Reddit with #Lemmy, for which I recommend the Sopuli instance by @Rynach https://sopuli.xyz/?dataType=Post&listingType=Local&sort=TopWeek which I subscribe to via Patreon. Its uptime is good and the admin responsive.
@arstechnica Well it's not a revolt against them or their product (aka user post data) so why would they care? It's probably internally considered in the same vein as a subreddit deciding that any discussion off the topic of the subreddit is banned or say a Disney one banning NSFW posts.
That said, as some else mentioned...it's is it's own can of sliminess.
I'm glad that #Reddit will not be providing #Twitter free promotion with subreddits banning links and in some cases screenshots to the site

@arstechnica give it a couple of days and I'm sure they will change the tune as some "ambassador" will "change their mind".
@arstechnica Twitter is a cesspool of hatred and Nazis. Is fucking garbage.
@arstechnica dear Arstechnica, a note from a long time paying reader here: writing "appeared to make a nazi salute" is cowardly and dishonest. He did make a nazi salute, there was nothing "appearing" in it. Please have a dignity to call things what they are, we can't afford to stay neutral, avert our eyes and hide behind ambiguous language anymore.
@arstechnica Good idea, otherwise it's going to be Reddit Blackout 2 Electric Boogaloo
When ** Reddit ** of all platforms thinks Twitter has too many fascists & bigots...wow
