If we view blowing up our atmosphere as “entertainment,” we are not going to make it as a species. Thank you for attending my TED talk.
@carlysagan It would've been extra "entertaining" if it had downed one of the planes that had to divert or be grounded, or had landed on someone's head.
@CStamp the worrying thing here is that space debris is falling all the time and if a small speeding bullet of debris hit an aircraft just right, we may never know the cause of loss. I’ve tried to voice this in industry and have been ignored.
@carlysagan @sundogplanets has been speaking up about the satellite problem and how Musk's space debris is a danger. She's been bringing a lot of awareness to the issue, so that's something.
I can't help feeling that this tweet was an extension of the principle that "when someone uses the emoji they are angrier than they have ever been before in their lives."
This photo traumatically reminds me of what happens after the moon explodes in “Seveneves”. (Not a spoiler)
@carlysagan Ooh, Elon Musk rage-bait. Thanks for not putting his name in the post so my content filters don't catch this and I have to see it against my will.
@carlysagan he's such a dick
@carlysagan I would be entertained - if he was in the rocket.
@carlysagan That's American tax payer money being blown up in the sky and this moron Elon thinks it's entertaining.
@carlysagan If Elon Musk was not so despicable personally, I would find it difficult to cheer the destruction of the product of hundreds or thousands of engineers. Let's try to keep it classy.
@carlysagan whys he using the sparkle emoji thats cultural appropriation
He's an enormous asshole.
@carlysagan Someone want to tell him he's about 19 days late ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Las_Vegas_Cybertruck_explosion )
@carlysagan I don't know about anyone else, but I'm damned if I ever get in a vehicle sold by someone who calls catastrophic failure and destruction "entertainment".
@epicdemiologist exactly!! It’s never going to hold people. There’s no way anyone with a functioning brain cell would sign up for entertainment-star-emoji-death. We already know it can’t land bc it’s too tall. The El*n bros aren’t that dumb, are they?
@carlysagan You don't get it. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
@carlysagan We need to find out whether flight termination was triggered or not and why. If Starship failed but remained whole, it should not have self-destructed as it had enough speed to make it into the Atlantic or Indian ocean (SpaceX would know this on a continuous basis). If the ship explode on its own, then nothing you could do to prevent debris from falling on caribeean.
@carlysagan Elon has the same sense of humor of Nero who played the lyre after he set Rome on fire
@carlysagan @Isnotgood This by itself is a reason to follow you.
