As a child my son played chess competitively. I told him I was proud of him, but on the inside I wished he played football. Being a chess parent was the worst -- long tournaments that made me want to poke my eyes out and the embarrassment of having a son not interested in sport.
@fesshole you're the embarrassment
@fesshole the son knew
@fesshole but chess IS a sport…
@fesshole I told him I was proud of him, but I'm incapable of being proud of anything that I can't live through vicariously
@fesshole meanwhile, at chess club:
"Your dad looks dumb as shit"
"Oh he is"
@fesshole fuck that guy
@fesshole To everyone riding the fesser: yep, he's got some machismo issues, but he at least did the Good Thing and didn't let it harm the kid.
Being supportive when your child does something they enjoy but you don't understand the slightest is on the good side of parenting.
@fesshole I just hope he was as supportive when his friends were assess and the kid wasn't there.
@fesshole Kid grows up, moves 800 miles away. Doesn’t call. Parent dies alone in a hospital waiting room, nobody mourns. Kid has happy life.
@Bluedepth @fesshole Well, that escalated quickly.
@fesshole You sound toxic AF
@fesshole get in the sea you toxic bastard
