Recently stumbled on Alt + Esc instead of Alt + Tab in GNOME and found myself using it more often, especially on my multi-monitor setup at home.

Unlike Alt + Tab, which brings up a switcher, it cycles through the open windows across your monitors, highlighting the current one with a thick border that’s very easy to distinguish.

@aral It’s so nice to discover these “hidden” features.

I recently learned about holding down the meta key and dragging a window anywhere, not only by dragging the title bar.

@mvsde @aral cool! seems i don't have a meta key though. what's yours?

@ottona it's either the windows key or the command key depending on your kb.

@evert thanks! but the windows key is called 'super' right? either way, no workey. will browse though tweaks' settings.

afaik there's no unified name so both Super and Meta are used in the wild, I wouldn't be surprised if there were any more names

@evert huh, a lot of interesting buttons there - we're missing out on Hyper being the canonical way to call Windows

@ottona
have you tried the alt-key? iirc that's how it works/ed in kde.

@evert

@ottona @mvsde @aral Try holding down Alt, then click-drag anywhere in a window.

thanks all, checked keyboard layout, my meta key is 'alt'. that doesn't do anything as described. differing gnome version? mine is 44.

@ottona @mvsde @aral @evert @__ash I don't use Gnome, but this could depend on window manager (or window manager settings).

@mvsde @aral You can also use your meta/super key with your middle mouse button to resize windows.
