I can't wait for HP to develop some new AI bullshit to annoy printer users more.
@nixCraft HP in the past used to be brilliant - easy to repair, get spare parts etc.
Then they lost it and now they screw the users all the time.
I've only got 1 HP printer now (laser) and won't have another one from them when either this one dies or they screw it
@nixCraft hopefully the printer AI will realize how much printers suck and will self-destruct.
@nixCraft Nah, the next level is running ads on your printer
@nixCraft
A start button that selects the job and paper quality settings for you based on what it predicts you want.
There is no opt-out or disabling the feature. It's just one button on the printer, that's it
For the Apple version; they release a new version of this printer, now with two buttons, that costs twice as much, but the 2nd button only gives you functionality that has existed as basic features in all other printers for the last 20 years, and will only let you print to it from other Apple devices.
@nixCraft your perfectly useful printer now not only requires a subscription to let you print, even when you have fresh toner, but now if your don't regularly feed your tamigotchi-printer-pet then you'll need to raise another print spooler job from egg.
@nixCraft silver lining? Maybe we can stop using so much paper?
@nixCraft AI printing. HP decides what you want printed, how you want it, and when to do it. The AI has a "will not fix" big where it prints 100 pages of pure black at 3AM every Tuesday.
@nixCraft "You seem to be trying to use off-brand ink with your HP printer. Would you like help not doing that?"
@nixCraft installed offbrand catridges in mine recently and had to aknowledge a warning on the printer that they can ensure quality and safety with those ...
If i imagined my spouse or even someone Like the inlaws Rreading that Message that would really cause insecurities and a phone call to me.
That is pure evil
@nixCraft They'll get right to it when they're done holding Xerox's beer: https://www.dkriesel.com/en/blog/2013/0802_xerox-workcentres_are_switching_written_numbers_when_scanning
@nixCraft You mean like HP's AI deciding your credit score isn't good enough? ;-)
