I've seen Pixelfed and Loops inspired BlueSky projects popping up.

I wouldn't hold my breath though, forget the infra costs of trying to compete with Bluesky PBLCC & the fact that Stories and other features can't exist in ATproto in it's current form

These Bsky apps will just be slim clients that are based around their microblogging core.

Pixelfed and Loops on the other hand are easily self hostable, with real features, not just limited to a Mastodon like foundation.

Wish them the best tho 😎

@dansup There is an option to send posts to other users from dm
We want the same feature in Pixelfed, just like on Instagram.

@pixelfedfans on the web version you normally have this option ... On PC it's on the left (see photo) and on mobile it's on the profile photo.

@dansup Those apps are not endorsed by the Bluesky Team and are uses for ads and user tracking. Be careful, the only free alternative is Pixelfed. Bluesky is no more than an undercover company acting as a FOSS fake friend.

If you click the app details there on the Google Play Store and click on permissiones, there a bunch of tracking permissions granted when installing the app, such as AdID accesos, App Usage or Network Usage and Monitoring. Be careful.

@dansup they can exist in atproto, it's just that the network effects of the bluesky network won't be there. the way atproto works, you have to know to look for the right repos and records. imagine if pixelfed wasn't compatible with mastodon despite both using activitypub. this could be reality if pixelfed didn't use the mastodon protocol for Note objects and instead it used Image objects.

@trwnh @dansup hmm. I guess they both share a caveat that you can send data between nodes all you like, but it's up to the (software/server/node) what, if anything, happens.

@LiquidParasyte atproto doesnt do any node to node communication, its entire model is basically having aggregators pull data from all the storage nodes directly into one place
