I suspect both of you are reacting to one of the waves that float temporarily thru mastodon.social and do not necessarily infect all other sites (and people) using mastodon software.
(I am not arguing against replacing mastodon software with something better, by the way.)

@davew I rarely see anything about the bird site or its owner here. Of course I follow different people and know how to use filters. Like any social site you see what you choose to see.
but it's not a good reason. being the best alternative to Twitter means that there's now a huge flood of people here who hate the man who they think ruined the place they loved. great. before you started spending a lot of time here and the service wasn't as nice as it is even now, it was all geeks and Nazis and very woke lefties. we who were not part of those clubs didn't demean it, we kept trying to support it and grow a more diverse user base. please do that now.

That said, until the Twitter exodus dies down there will continue to be some resentment from people who felt like they were forced to migrate to keep their morals in tact.
And don’t think negatively of these people. Folks willing to make a change when they see something bad are generally good people to be around.
@davew I think most people on Mastodon would prefer people to shut the hell up about Twitter, Musk etc. You're just in a part where people are talking about it a lot for whatever reason.

@davew Mastodon started in 2016 and newer heard of Elon till this past year, so that is maybe your perspective as a newbie in mastodon. Anyways i dunno why people see a decentralized and federated network of servers as an alternative to a purely centralized one like Twitter. More likely would be the case to think about migrating to places like Instagram or Facebook right? Cheers!

Us using other Fedi software are happily shit posting or discussing about bees, the latest technologies, the next project, photography, beautiful women, music, farming, gardening, birds, art, books, the latest songs, and so on

You are on a very short list of my all time internet heroes. Was glad to see you on mastodon, and would be sorry if you left. For me it has been a much better experience, but I also just don't operate at the scale you do and so may just not see what you are experiencing.
