What's the best tool to use to design a conference poster?
@lauraritchie That probably depends on your level of software skills. While I have experience in Adobe's suite, trying to switch to open source solutions is difficult. There's a learning curve. Is it my previous experience, clouding my learning?
Check out Gimp. Inkscape is a good suggestion, but Gimp was quicker for me to get a handle on. I'm sure there must be some web apps as well, like free "design a logo" sites.
@sikkdays @lauraritchie I don't often make posters, but when I do, I prefer PowerPoint.
Oh, it's super-easy. Open up a new presentation. On the Ribbon, click 'Design'. On the right hand side of the ribbon you'll see 'Slide Size'. Click that. Select 'Custom' and make your slide 3 feet wide (or whatever). Now you're working on a poster-sized slide.
@lauraritchie @Downes Heh, my partner does this with the Google equivalent, but I didn't want to suggest it for fear of offending you. Haha. It was late. Live and learn.
