The #Google Plus social network had that nice concept of "circles" to show the different facets of your life. You could subscribe to only some circles of someone, some circles were public, and other private. Much of my life centers around #Debian (in that case I write in English) but I also like video games and politics (and then it's more for my French friends), but I don't want to annoy all my followers with stuff that they are not interested in.

Why is it that #mastodon, an open-source app designed with the interest of users first, does not have such a feature yet? No I haven't done my homework here, I have not researched the issue tracker or anything, but maybe some of you have strategies to cope with this problem. I mean I follow many Debian contributors to read about their Debian activities, but I'm not interested when they write in German or Italian about random non-Debian topics.

@magicfab I tried to follow #debian but that's definitely not the same as following other Debian developers that are working on the project. What could be helpful is to be able to follow someone but filter their posts to only show those that have one or more tags that I'm interested in. But I don't think that such a feature exists.

@rhertzog Oh, I see. It's probably not possible to subscribe to someone's specific tags within Mastodon but you can...
