On Nostr, Jack Dorsey wants to replace traditional likes with “zaps”, a crypto form of payment that uses the Lightning Network for sending micropayments.
That’s right, he wants you to pay money for liking a Nostr post.
@atomicpoet They seem so convinced this is something we all want to do. It's this grand delusion that so many overrated valley punks and their VCs seem to have. It has no basis in the real world.
@shoq @atomicpoet Also, Nostr is just a crypto/blockchain/tech bros echo chamber where they all share insight on how smart and wonderful they all are and how epic all the tech they are developing is. Kind of useless for most folks, really.
@jimcarroll @atomicpoet I am sure all of that is true, but global media is still sitting out there waiting for a venue, and whoever delivers it to them first is likely to win. Twitter wasn't elegant on any level. It was just there at exactly the right time.
@shoq @atomicpoet If media orgs can't figure out Mastodon/Fediverse, I sure as heck can't see them figuring out Nostr!
