#emulate

Many of those #Disney games on the #PS1 and #PS2, (or even #Warnerbros and etc.) are games you can safely emulate today,

Various DIsney movies had been remade of late and its a good decade right now, to go back and play through those older Disney games. Not just for nestolgia but because they been brought back up to the public eye.

Usually 3rd party releases are different then as if the game was made and owned by the #studio that owned the source material.

Many of these Disney games were made by 3rd party game company licenses. Meaning Disney made all the money before you even had the chance to buy the game. Disney is more worried about piracy of their movies, or any of their in house video games, but not games via #3rdparty studios through #licenses

Since alot of these 3rd party #videogame studious are, old, and probably don't exist today, actually further increases the safetyness of playing these older titles while emulating. However, I would not advertise any specific case of you emulating a game or more specifically downloading a #rom . It is technically illegal.

What you need to do is make sure the game you are emulating isn't a game that's still being used to this current day, many of these older ps1 titles have not been ported or remastered on modern console. (Unless you count the barebones emulatation, even then the amount of tittles are limited.

How to know when not to #emulate a game: #emulation

Even if the game is an older game in a franchise, is that specific game engine/ franchise still in use to this day? If yes, it's likely the devs would appreciate you buy that tittle. But if you're looking at something like Rayman 2 and Rayman 3, whens the last time #Ubisoft made a 3D #Rayman game? Exactly. THey been doing more 2d games in modern times.

The best way to BoTW on is through - it gives you the ability to play with mods, enhanced graphics, high FPS and a far longer load distance. And the Wii U version is the exact same game as the Switch version!

My fav mods are those which let me play as Linkle <3

Emulating my on my just makes me so happy.

The ability to back my games up and then them, playing them at higher resolutions, with mods, better graphics and frame-rates? has had its set-backs with emulation in the last year, but some people forget... and haven't stopped working, it's all SO very easy to set up.

I use to emulate: all from my SD card: roms, emulators, bios, mods...all separate from the SSD.

I like taking a look at history in general, but especially with electronics. Seeing how far we've come fascinates me. Plus I know that my ability to #emulate and play older games has given me appreciation for them. Doing that with the #Atari2600 sparked it, and it continued from there over the years.

Plus I am fascinated with not only "good" games, but bad ones. So bad it's good, bad mediocre, etc. Bootlegs, trash games, their story. Maybe it's too much #Vinesauce.

Ethan Gates shared his bibliography of 30+ years' (1992-present) of emulation related readings, 200+ conference papers: zotero.org/ethan-gates/collect

Criteria:
- published/written works
- must include the terms #emulate / #emulator / #emulation in context of #DigitalPreservation
- if 4 video games - must apply beyond hobbyist context

Lessons:
- worthy of an in-depth literature review
- conversations have been dominated by small group
- most are case studies & research

I just downloaded the for and I'm just now figuring out the PS1 core settings in . I never owned a so I don't know what these games are supposed to look like. The geometry jiggling is super annoying so I'm glad the core can correct that. But somehow it feels like I'm not getting the real experience with the upres and filtering.

What settings do you PS1 with?

I mean, an advantage of not doing anything to the is that I get to use it for family movie night, but also I can expect it to not burn my off.

It was really tempting today to remove the color wheel. I found out that others have used a thing called a to the back signal from the colorwheel motor. So you can remove the motor altogether and go to a projector. I'm exposing another photo before bed right now. Halfway there

Learning #computinghistory is much more impactful with real hardware. However, machines like the #DEC #Rainbow are old. For daily driving purposes, it is much better to be able to #emulate and allow the actual hardware to rest.

Learn how I used #mame to emulate the #decrainbow and set up a basic #msdos environment to compute like it’s 1982.

@lispi314 A 24-bit address allows for 16 MB of memory; it would break by late 1990s.

Now, if one were to #emulate many 24-bit machines on current hardware, with inter-machine internet (also emulated), I think that it would be a much more efficient use of resources than current #bloatware (A browser using more than 1 GB of RAM? Preposterous!)

Finally making some damn progress on level 9 in Diablo with my rogue run.

A big key for the rogue here is firing arrows toward where you know the monsters are (once you've died from them enough times to learn, ffs) to taunt them to come over near one of these wood enclosures with the door.

Then, you run inside, close the door, and fire out, chugging health potions. It works. They run over fast and want to surround you. My rogue Alathra is level 18 now, and pretty tough (Arkaines Valor etc) but if the monsters surround you on floor 9, they'll just kill you over and over. You can't even chug potions fast enough.

So I fully filled my inventory with health potions, had a town portal ready to go, kept saving every time I killed a few more, and I think I'm finally getting somewhere now.

I mean, I kept dying here a LOT. Was even trying Stone Curse, melee weapons, anything. It was brutal. Maybe now I can progress some more.
