We think the US is falling apart because of Trump's reelection. But Trump is just a symptom of a bigger problem:

The US is falling apart as a result of the US allowing an insane wealth distribution, where the rich pay no taxes, because their companies are offshored and now have revenues larger than countries.

This has allowed the malignant to buy both media and social media, which has allowed them to hack democracy by polluting the minds of the uneducated, which THEN has gotten Trump elected.

Interest in LibreOffice, the open-source alternative to Microsoft Office, is on the rise, with weekly downloads of its software package close to 1 million a week as users look to avoid subscription costs. That’s the highest download number since 2023. It works on Linux, macOS, Windows and Unix like systems. computerworld.com/article/3840

There is something very wrong in this country when six young people meeting to discuss politics in a Quaker Meeting House are arrested by the police after a mass (twenty officers) invasion of the building (armed with tasers).

The freedom to protest, or even the freedom to meet in a room to discuss current affairs, are central to a democracy... if this freedom is now compromised (further), as it seems to be, we are in a very bad place!

QuakersQuakers condemn police raid on Westminster Meeting HousePolice broke into a Quaker Meeting House last night (27 March) and arrested six young people holding a meeting over concerns for the climate and Gaza.

Must say there is something beautiful and healing about seeing a bunch of strangers in a #repairCafe helping each other fix their rice cookers, format their laptops, sew their teddy bears, patch up their clothes, figure out ways to solve problems with what they've got right there and each other.

Highly recommended activity to restore faith in ordinary people when we see so much cruelty from the top.

Dear Labour Government...
Top 6 (realistic) policy suggestions:
1. Rejoin the EU single market.
2. Bring in a tiny 2% wealth tax (£24bn)
3. Invest that in NHS, Schools and Rewilding
4. And avoid welfare cuts for the worst off
5. Get growth via investing in green economy (grew 10% last year)
6. End arms sales to Israel - because it’s immoral.

Interestingly, these are the policies of the Green Party. They are NOT policy for Labour, Cons, or Reform. Think of that the next time you vote.

A new commitment to fight malnutrition worldwide.

We have announced €3.4 billion until 2027 to support partner countries facing high levels of child malnutrition, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

The EU support will address children under five and young pregnant and breastfeeding mothers suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

We will work with partner countries to get closer to a world where every child wakes up nourished, grows strong, and thrives.

Journalists lose their minds when Gary Stevenson talks about redistributing wealth from the rich to the poor, but we've spent 46 years redistributing wealth from the poor to the rich and that's fine?

I want to make sure people know that in the U.S. a Presidential executive order is not a law. It is an internal memo from the head of the Executive to others in that branch. The President has no constitutional authority to legislate or adjudicate the law. 1/

"You don't always win when you fight, but you always lose when you don't."
- Rachel Maddow tonight on the law firms that surrendered vs. the law firms that fought.
Words to fight by.

Yesterday, a peaceful meeting in a Quaker Meeting House in London was raided by police and six arrests were made.
I told a friend about this. Her reaction: “They must have been criminals”. Ordinary people simply cannot believe how close to fascism our country is becoming. It’s going to be hard to change their views!

Funding the FutureFirst they came for the QuakersTo slightly misquote a poem: First they came for the Quakers, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Quaker. Except I am a Quaker, and I share this, issued by the Quakers in Britain, of which I am indirectly a member: Quakers in Britain strongly condemned the violation of their place...
