@_elena Great post as usual :)
Do you think friendica can "replace" facebook groups in a similar fashion?
That reminds me that I need to setup a matrix instance as well!

@_elena @pixelfed @dansup @pfefferle @gotosocial @yunohost @phanpy happy new year!

I can't wait to hear more in 2025 as you continue your #fediverse adventures:)

I just went back and read your post on #Sharkey and have to say I'm considering setting up my own instance... That or #gotosocial but maybe I'll wait to read your upcoming conclusions.

I'm also using #yunohost and totally understand your gushing enthusiasm for being able to selfhost, what a time to be alive:). Thanks devs!!

@_elena @pixelfed @dansup @pfefferle @gotosocial @yunohost @phanpy I can't wait for you to play with #peertube it would be a great second home for your documentary... It even supports donations and password protected access if I remember correctly.

@_elena@mastodon.social thanks for writing this. Where did you install YunoHost? was it a local machine, a VPS...?
You probably know this already, but there's also another application for events, besides Mobilizon, called Gancio (
https://gancio.org/).

GancioHomeGancio is a shared agenda for local communities.

@_elena Last year I also set up my own GoToSocial instance and have been using my forked version of Phanpy. It has been a great experience...

and yes, write about how it's been going!!

@_elena An inspirational year, thank you! And some films/videos sound amazing!

@_elena tu sei il cronista del fediverso 🫶

thank you so much for all your work!!!

@_elena @pixelfed @dansup @pfefferle @gotosocial @yunohost @phanpy Just discovered the client to simplify access across multiple fediverse accounts.

"Openvibe is one of the few apps that helps consolidate the biggest of these networks into one place. You can view content from each channel in a unified timeline, cross-post to each platform, and now get notifications on interactions and activities"

@_elena I really love how you focus on the value without going into protocol/techy-details.

@_elena With you having used a bunch of these tools, how would you compare the trust and safety features of each?

@_elena You just gave me the blueprint I didn’t even know I needed to really dive into the #Fediverse. I’ve now followed you on #Mastodon and #Pixelfed and will add your blog to my RSS subscriptions.

@_elena @gotosocial @phanpy Another happy GoToSocial user here, and your post prompted me to finally try out Phanpy. It's very different, but so far I like it!

@_elena love this. I think you are tackling one of the most important problems facing the Fedi: making it approachable to those who don’t have a computer science degree.

The Fediverse has an on ramp problem and sites like yours are chipping away at that stigma. Thank you!

@_elena glad to see another person satisfied of my GoToSocial packaging work ^w^

@_elena@mastodon.social Thank you for the write up! Your energy around this is fantastic!

@_elena @gotosocial @yunohost Fantastic post, thank you !

I don’t know where is the issue, but when I try to search your GoToSocial profile / posts from this Mastodon instance, I get strange 503 error messages.

Did you fiddle with your instance / profile privacy settings ? If so, I am astonished that the message I get here is a « not found » (for your posts) or an error message (for your profile)

Cc @sysadmin , @elena

@_elena @gotosocial @yunohost @sysadmin But if I search profiles with « Elena » from here, @elena is listed…
I was able to sent a follow request this way, did you get it ?

@barijaona @gotosocial thank you for the heads-up. This account doesn't require manual acceptance of follows... So let me know if you are able to follow it. I tested following on multiple devices before and never had any problems...

@elena @gotosocial After many attempts, I remain stuck at “waiting approval”

Cc. @sysadmin

@barijaona @elena
Hello,
Maybe : this request was blocked on our server because of a failure ; network problem or server problem. I relaunch the process, may you tell me if it's fine now ?
On Monday, I will also be able to use internal commands from Mastodon to verify connection between accounts.

@gotosocial

@sysadmin thank you for the answer. What is strange is tha on my end, in my GoToSocial notifications bar I see that "@barijaona is following you". Maybe try again unfollowing and re-following me to see if there are any changes?

@elena @sysadmin Hello,
Finally, got it running, after unsubscribing and resubscribing. 💪🏼.
The behavior is a bit strange: during a few seconds, I saw the status going from “Follow” to “Subscribed”, then back to “Waiting approval” and finally “Subscribed” again.

@elena @barijaona
Hello,
Good new at the end.
Maybe few packets were lost during the approval transaction between our two instances.
Hard to know, we still experiment some strange federation behaviour with few remote accounts or instances.

@_elena hai gia’ provato Pleroma/Akkoma?

@_elena @pixelfed @dansup @pfefferle @gotosocial @yunohost @phanpy

Howdy Elena,

You and I are twins from a different mother.

I started in tech circa '87. I want the Internet I got excited about, back then. And I want to help others see the benefits of the Fediverse.

I subscribed to your blog. I'm on Ghost as well.
