It’s hard to extrapolate from a short video, but this seems like this may be a significant development in the absorption of humanoid robots into the work place.

I understand the demonstrative value of the knob-turning dexterity, but I question whether that makes any sense beyond the early days of adoption. Robots and humans will both need to interact with the same affordances, but as we head down this path, I’d wager we’ll see more standardized interfaces a la R2-D2 interacting with ships, doors, computers, etc.

It seems likely that these standardized interfaces will start with specific use cases and then generalize to industries before something more potentially universal.

We’ll need standard data models, API descriptions, decentralized authorization strategies and more.
