A Seaport (1644) by French artist Claude (1604-1682). This warm, tranquil port scene is bathed in sunlight: the clock on the building to the left records the time as five o'clock. A coat of arms with three golden fleurs-de-lis (emblem of the French king) above the clock and on the ship’s flags to the right suggests this painting was intended for a French patron.

Seattle's #airport, #seaport isolate systems after cyberattack

"The Port of Seattle, which includes the airport, published a statement on Saturday afternoon warning that hours earlier it “experienced certain system outages indicating a possible cyberattack.”

Unlike many #rivers that terminate in a #seaport, the #LARiver was never navigable by ship. It was more of a marshy estuarial system, fanning out all over #wetlands. The placement of the #LosAngeles/ #LongBeach #ports is actually kind of arbitrary as far as the river is concerned--but the river had to be managed to support #railroads & later, freeways.
