The "smart educated elite" in the USA have failed to prevent drivers in their areas and have shown themselves largely helpless in resisting and . Their intelligence and education appears patchy.

Talking with Others with the goal of identifying and achieving common goals would seem to be obstructed by viewing the Others as stupid and backwards.

IMO anthropology has much to offer in terms of dialog between USA-factions.

I used to block trackers on my old phone before installing , which has none at all. I noted some of their data was badly incorrect and some of it was confusing. Some data didn't match up. Some names they claim I go by that aren't me. They do have my address since I do business with them. They also claim to have maybe sold medical data but how would they get that? And which data? The report says nothing about that. I hate .

In addition, they note that they share data with nearly 50 companies including Microsoft, Google, Twitter, Yahoo, YouTube, and Facebook. A few companies I'd never heard of include MotionPoint, Casalemedia, Bidswitch, and Live Ramp. I have been feeling creeped out and pissed off ever since I got the report back. I do a lot to protect my data and I've been wondering how much data they have and what types. I use 24/7 so probably not much browsing data.

Literally everyone could see this outcome of having a giant fire hose of all the network's data when looking at Bluesky's architecture. It's the other side of the double edged sword of helping with discoverability and global reach. It's why efforts to standup something similar on Mastodon/AP fediverse is always met with huge resistance. Ironically that leads to a lot of tut-tutting by usual suspects. Even shunning a firehose sidecar component on the AP side of the fediverse I'm sure a substantial percentage of public data is being scraped directly from our servers. That's still going to be substantially higher PITA for these data vampires and not as effective since a lot of servers substantially limit what can be publicly/anonymously seen. #bluesky #SurveilanceCapitalism #ai 404media.co/bluesky-posts-mach…
404 Media · Your Bluesky Posts Are Probably In A Bunch of Datasets NowAfter a machine learning librarian released and then deleted a dataset of one million Bluesky posts, several other, even bigger datasets have appeared in its place—including one of almost 300 million non-anonymized posts.

"Because of your contributions on GitHub, two-factor authentication will be required for your account starting […]. Thank you for helping keep the ecosystem safe!"

"Hey [stupid]!
Your GitHub account was successfully signed in to but we did not recognize the location of the sign in."

So, because I contribute free and code to your site, you now want to have me fully surveilled? That's how you "thank" me?

How about ?

@drrimmer

And there's more!

This little at the end of the article has me thinking that change might just be happening, that might get some push-back.

I've criticised , still do, but I do note this is happening on his watch.

"Meta, which owns Facebook, has also been fighting a case against the national privacy commissioner over the Cambridge Analytica scandal on jurisdictional grounds, arguing that it's not subject to Australian law."

"...drivers are monitored by in-van AI-powered surveillance cameras, which track a driver’s movements and notify their dispatch manager of any infractions. If these infractions pile up, they can lead to drivers being disciplined."

Sounds like Wayne is a total ass...

404 Media · All Bad Bosses at Amazon Are Now Named ‘Wayne’The newly-fabricated dispatcher, named Wayne, represents every manager who assigns incompletable routes and package loads. But he’s based in reality.
